Let the Church Say AMEN
This powerful message confronts us with a sobering reality: we can be busy doing church while Jesus stands outside knocking. Drawing from Revelation 3:14-20, we encounter the church of Laodicea—a congregation that had perfected religious activity but lost intimate relationship with Christ. They had worship services, programs, and organization, but Jesus identified Himself as 'the Amen'—the final word, the ultimate truth—and revealed that He was standing outside His own church. The message challenges us to examine whether we've substituted cultural Christianity for genuine encounter with the living God. Are we lifting hands with coffee cups, more concerned about comfort than consecration? Have we mastered presentation and performance while neglecting His presence? The sermon exposes how self-sufficiency slowly removes our dependency on God. We celebrate our degrees, our financial stability, our church growth—all while forgetting that without Him, we have nothing of eternal value. Jesus offers us three remedies: gold tried by fire representing purified faith and character, white garments symbolizing His righteousness that covers our shame, and eye salve so we can truly see our spiritual condition. This isn't about condemnation but invitation. Christ knocks because He loves His church and longs to restore genuine fellowship. When we welcome the Amen back into our hearts and churches, everything changes—worship becomes authentic, preaching brings transformation, and we move from religious routine to relational intimacy with our Savior.
